Be Mindful Of Children

There are those who hear people advocating for public safety who let it all go in one ear and out the other. They think that they know it all and that driving is something totally routine that does not require any particular focused attention. But the thing is, people like this often get a rude awakening when they wind up learning the hard way.
The potential for disaster that exists when you get behind the wheel is extraordinary. It is not just a matter of obeying the laws and hoping for the best, and unfortunately a significant percentage of drivers don’t even do that. You have to drive defensively and be prepared to adjust to the mistakes of others to maximize your own safety and that of your passengers and other people on the roadways.
With this in mind, consider the proclivities of children. Small children understand the big picture and they can make mistakes that put themselves in harm’s way. If you are not looking out for “the other guy” by driving defensively you may not have the time to react should a child dart suddenly into the path of your vehicle. And of course because they are small they can be harder to see.
There are telltale signs that you can pick up on that would indicate that children may be present as you are driving down a particular street. Take heed, and remember the children in your own life that mean so much to you. If you look out for others while others look out for you the fabric of community safety will grow stronger by the day.
